Confluence Workshops and Programming:

The Writing Workshop at Confluence this year will be run by writer and teacher Paul Anderson. Those interested can forward emails and inquiries to him at .

Given that Paul will actually be critiquing pre-workshop work the deadline will have to be Saturday, July 4th. A questionnaire will be sent to those interested as a guage of experience and expectations. The submitted stories would count as an attendance marker--submit a story, participate in the workshop.

Although the schedule is not set, the workshop is expected to last about three hours on Saturday. This will allow time to examine overarching concepts and introduce exercises in point-of-view, hook lines, getting the story going, the place for exposition and other elements to improve the story with an eye to publication.

Story submissions should be 5,000 words and under, and attached to the submission e-mail as a .doc or .rtf file?

With your submission, please answer the following questions in the body of the e-mail so that Mr. Anderson may have all pertinent information for the workshop:

1. What specific genre does your writing qualify as? Explain.

2. Have you been published before? If so, where? If not, where would you like to be published?

3. What is your greatest challenge while writing? Is it maintaining POV, establishing character, editing, or something else entirely different? Explain.

4. When you think of writing questions, what is the first one that occurs to you?

5. What do you hope to get out of this workshop?

Please answer in the numerical order given. Your answers will help the workshop determine what is common knowledge and what is needed to be covered for a more informative session.
