"Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" (1980)An episode of the award winning science series with Carl Sagan. I miss him. |
| 5:00pm |
"Dr. Who: The Girl in the Fireplace" (2006)The episode takes place in multiple time periods as the Tenth Doctor and characters Rose and Mickey find time windows leading to 18th century France and a group of clockwork androids using them to stalk Madame de Pompadour throughout her life. If you haven't seen this episode, you may want to because it is part of the foundation of this year's play on Saturday night. |
| 6:00pm |
"Serenity" (2005)Also a "must see" movie if you want to have any idea what is going on in the play on Saturday night. |
| 8:00pm |
"The Good, the Bad, the Weird" (2008)A Korean western loosly based on the sphegetti western. Three men rob the same train in Manchuria trying to obtain a treasure map. Yea, it's weird, but plenty of fun. |
| 10:30pm |
"The Host" (2006)Another Korean film, this time a monster movie. Many times better than "Cloverfield" because you actually care about the characters. And, because it is so character driven, they do not waste time trying to hide the monster for suspense. |

| 10:00am |
"Flatland" (2007)Based on Edwin A. Abbott's 1884 novella, this follows the journey of A Square, Attorney at law, a being of two dimensions into the third dimensional world. |
| 12:00pm |
"Wall-E" (2008)One of the best sci-fi romantic comedies I have ever seen. If the Academy Awards didn't relegate animated films to their own little corner, I would have had a good chance of a best film oscar. See this film if you haven't And if you have, see it again. |
| 2:00pm |
"The Girl Who Lept Through Time" (2006)When I saw this at Tekkoshocon earlier this year, I knew I had to put it on the program. Time travel, and the sometimes bitter consequences of time travel. |
| 4:00pm |
"Cowboy Bebop: The Movie " (2001)"Cowboy Bebop" is one of the best TV series ever made. The first episode I saw had one of the main characters talking about John Coultrain coming to him in a dream and it told me immediately that this was going to be different. In 2003, I showed the entire series all night long, I wanted to get this in, too. |
| 6:00pm |
"The Quiet Arrangement" (2009)A thriller filmed in Pittsburgh with our own Kevin Hayes. |
| 8:00pm | I know you are all going to be upstairs watching the play, but I'm going to be watching something with a lot more explosions. |
| 10:30pm |
"They Live" (2004)It's not a great movie, I know, but the fight scene with Roddy Piper and Keith David goes on for a brutal five and a half minutes. Definately worth the price of admission. |
| Sunday | |
| 10:00am |
"Sinbad the Sailor" (1947)Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Maureen O'Hara and Anthony Quinn. |
| 12:00pm |
"Godzilla: Final Wars" (2004)When I saw this on the big screen, it was introduced by Keiko McDonald with the suggestion to "Leave your sophistication at the door." It's a remake of "Destroy All Monsters". |
| 2:00pm |
"Zatoichi" (2003)A remake of the classic blind swordsman series by "'Beat" Takeshi with himself in the title role. |
